8 Posts For My 8 Months Break: Part 4

Hello!!

Post 4! Ready? Let’s go!

On to my third job! This happened concurrently with TIP actually. I worked at Takashimaya as a promoter. It was my first job in retail and what an experience that was. This was a period of time when the Covid situation in Singapore was getting worse, and to be frank, there were little to no customers at Taka. But that left me with a whole lot of time to think and reflect, and some of my best ideas came to me then. I also spent time talking to the other promoters, many of them were aunties in their 40s, with a couple of them being in their late twenties early thirties. They were all very experienced and oh so very very kind. They could see that I was severely inexperienced, but they took me under their wings and inducted me to the job even though they didn’t have to. Having more life experience, they were also very willing to teach me and share their experiences with me. All in all, we had so many fruitful conversations:)

Similarly, a shoutout to all of them, I may only have been there for about a week, but thank you for taking care of me and teaching me so much about working in retail. I’ll be sure to stop by anytime I’m in town:))

This was a short one, but longer ones are coming! Stay tuned!
