Chinese/ Higher Chinese
Syllabus
Well, language is not really something I can write notes for you for, but what I can do is to provide you with the basics. Uploaded here are notes that help summarise your learning.
Comprehension Notes provide you with a summary of the skills you learnt in class because the comprehension paper frequently requires you to answer to the skill used in the passage. It is not exactly difficult but can be troublesome if you cannot organise all the skills learnt in an effective way in your mind.
*I will also upload the notes on Paper 1 formats as soon as I write it.
Other than that, the two most important things I need to tell you with regards to preparing for your language papers, especially Chinese and Higher Chinese are:
- Look for your subject teacher as many times as you can to practice your oral. You need to cooperate with them in order to up your oral skills. It is also super important to use the language as much as possible in order to make sure you are fluent in the language. It is no use memorising the meaning of 1000 idioms if you have no idea how to use them.
- Read widely, especially model essays and the newspapers. Having an idea of what is happening in the world is especially useful if you are going to tackle the 议论文 essay. Otherwise, to craft good stories, model essays books are your best friends.
I recently had a junior ask me how to improve his grades 2 days before the O Level June paper and I was at a complete loss. Mastering languages is not something online notes can help you very much with but I’ll do what I can to help.
Remember, mastering your languages is not something you can do overnight. Start at least a year early!!
If there are any parts I have missed out do feel free to let me know and I will try my best to update it.
