Don’t let yesterday’s pain kill today’s strength. Never be afraid to turn the page and start a new chapter. Free yourself.

Hey guys,
So how was your day 1 of phase 2? Were you part of the go out and meet your friends for the first time in 2 months gang? Or did you continue to stay at home like phase 2 hasn’t even started gang? I stayed home today, not because I particularly wanted too (oops) but because I was working from home today.
Anyway, I dived deep into the archives for today’s quote. Well I say dived deep because I went back to one the first album of quotes I started on my personal Instagram account, but really, this quote is a new addition. As we move on, I do foresee that I may be falling back on the older quotes I came across, so you guys will definitely get to see some of that material in due time.
But today’s quote reminded me of a period of time in my life when things were harder. That was a period when I wasn’t so in tune with the whole self love and self care narrative. That was when I hadn’t discovered how to heal. That was when my wounds were still very fresh.
I remember that period of my life as one of the hardest thus far. I was in a state when I was always thinking about why certain things happened a certain way, whether those things happened because I wasn’t good enough or because I did something wrong. There was a lot of self doubt and self confidence was something that was quite foreign to me.
But as I reflected on my journey, I see the truth in this quote. Yes, I have the benefit of hindsight now, and that’s why I’m sharing my story, because I hope that I can share the realisation that I only got because I can tap on my ‘hindsight wisdom’ now.
But yes. I am starting to see the wisdom this quote encompasses. Life happens in seasons. As difficult as any season can be, that season will come to an end. And yes, we don’t know when that end is coming, but that doesn’t stop us from living like the end is today.
Your pain is your strength. Pain isn’t your weakness, because once you overcome that pain, it can’t hurt you anymore. No matter how bad yesterday was, don’t let that stop you from trying to make today the day your pain ends. The possibility of starting a new chapter today is always there.
You see, with every new day, we have the chance to make that the day our difficult season ends. Sure you might not succeed, but you can try. And if you know me well enough, you would know that there’s one thing I see more value in than success, and that is effort. As long as you are trying to start a new chapter, that is good enough. The effort that you are putting into trying, that is good enough and more than enough for you to feel proud of yourself today.
So have faith that your difficult season can end today.
If you’re going through a tough period right now, even if today was a really bad day, that’s okay. Go home, watch a movie, take a long bath and have a good night’s rest. You can try again tomorrow and who knows, tomorrow might just be the day you close this chapter of your life and start a new, more joyful one.
