Solving Problems… one step at a time

Hi guys,

So this is the post you’ve all been waiting for. I’m gonna release the details of how exactly this ‘service’ is going to work, and how you can make use of it.

Part 1 | Why this?

I still remember that when I was a student, I would often study late into the night, and when I had questions then, it would be so frustratingly difficult to get answers at that hour. In more extreme cases, this can actually manifest into anxiety, especially in the days leading up to examinations.

This is why I came up with this initiative, and roped in some friends to help me. Together, we form this core group of individuals who will answer your questions, when you have questions. As recent graduates ourselves, we understand that you may not have time to study during the day, or simply prefer studying at night. So that makes it logical that you only have questions at night, at times when your teachers say that you can’t text them. That’s where we come in.

Part 2 | Who are we?

Well, first of all there’s me, the person managing this blog and most things you’ve read thus far.

The core group of people in this with me are mainly my friends. They won’t be named, just so that they can maintain their privacy, but you’ll get to know more about them in future Instagram posts!

Part 3 | What can you ask?

ANYTHING!

From math to science to project work, from PSLE to O Level to A Level to IB, from asking how to solve a math problem to getting feedback for your coursework, we’ll be here to help.

In fact, beyond that. If you just need to talk to someone about your worries, if you need advice on what subject combination to take, about which JC to go, which poly course to do, or just to talk through anything with you, we’ll be here for you.

Part 4 | How to ask?

This is really simple!

  1. Take a picture of the question.
  2. Send the picture to us via insta DM (@01step_at_a_time) as a permanent picture, NOT the disappearing one.
  3. Wait for our reply and clarify any doubts you have there and then.

Part 5 | How much do I pay for this?

Not a cent. We are doing this because we genuinely want to help our juniors, whether we know you personally or not. If you really do want to pay us back, then focus on your exams, and pay it forward when you can. You can always start small and teach your friends, or join us! We are always on the lookout for more people who are willing to join the team.

Who we are looking for? People who have…

  • The heart to help
  • Decent grasps of the subject material (aka decent grades but only for our Subject Specialists)
  • Willingness to explain the thought process patiently (only for our Subject Specialists)
  • Ready to answer questions late into the night (only for our Subject Specialists)

Now this is not the only initiative that I’m rolling out. If you remember, I am also running a mental wellness account (@giving.soulfood) and you can take part in that as well. All you have to do is to fill up the form linked below and we will get in touch.

Just for some context, Giving Soul Food is an initiative aimed at promoting mental wellness. We aim to spread love and positivity around our spheres of influence, starting from our friends and family, then neighbours and more.

So if any of these causes resonate with you, I invite you to fill up this form and we’ll be in touch shortly.

We really look forward to hearing from you!
