Hey guys,
This post will most probably only come in useful next year when the new batch of J1s come in and experience their own Feeling Fab day, but I’m just gonna pen this down for their reference next year.
It is a VJ tradition to organise a ‘Feeling Fab Day’ for the J1s every year. The whole point of this? To encourage class bonding. The best part about this? No lessons that day!
For me, my class got allocated Dragon Boating, and it was a really really fun experience.
We went down to Kallang Water Sports Centre, which is really quite near to Kallang Wave Mall and the National Stadium. The whole event ended by 12pm and it is only natural for most of us to go out for class lunch after the event. Here are 5 tips I have for yall so yall can Feel even more Fab than us.
- If you don’t want to get wet, don’t sign up for Dragon Boating. Even if your entire cohort is peace-loving and refuses to splash each other (even though one of the things they teach you is how to splash), the instructors are all experts at stirring shit and will pour water on you. So get ready to be drenched.
- Sunblock is your new best friend. Yes, you are going to be under the sun. Yes, it is going to be damn hot. So yes, bring sunblock unless you enjoy feeling the pain from sunburn and looking like a lobster.
- Bring shower stuff. For example, your towel, shampoo, extra clothes. The last thing you want to do is to eat lunch while feeling disgusting all over. So really, although no one will say anything if you decide to go home to bathe, you will feel pretty uncomfortable doing anything before you shower. Although it is a bit of extra weight to lug around, it will all be worth it.
- Book your seats in whatever restaurant you want to eat in in advance. I mentioned that the location is super near those malls where there are a lot of restaurants. I also mentioned that most people would end up going for class lunch. So if you are really set on eating at a particular restaurant, I strongly recommend that you book in advance. Although typically, the best memories are forged when you guys are sitting in a circle on the floor with all your dabao-ed food.
- Just go crazy. By the time Feeling Fab Day comes around, you would have properly entered the demanding world of the A Level syllabus. So when there comes a day when the school lets you let loose, grab that opportunity and just have fun. Tons of fun. And remember, there isn’t a glam way to have your picture taken when you just got splashed. So suck up the unglams and focus on creating memories that will help you through the next 8 weeks of school, just like how the memories from orientation helped you get through the trauma of settling in.
I’ll try and see if folks from other classes with other activities are willing to come up with 5 tips for their respective activities, but otherwise,
till the next post,
BYE GUYS!! :))
